Work out the VAT
| Amount before VAT | |
| VAT 15% | |
| Total incl. VAT |
VAT on an amount before VAT
Multiply the amount by 0.15 for the VAT, and by 1.15 for the total. Example: SAR 100, VAT SAR 15, total SAR 115.
Pulling the VAT out of a total
Multiply the total by 15 and divide by 115. Example: SAR 57.50 including VAT holds SAR 7.50 of VAT, and SAR 50 before VAT. The usual mistake is taking 15% of the total, which gives too much VAT.
Rounding
The calculator rounds to two decimals and takes the amount before VAT as the total minus the VAT, so the sum always matches. On an invoice with many items, a POS works out the VAT per line and adds it up, so the two ways can differ by a halala.
Simplified and standard tax invoices
A simplified invoice is for sales to consumers. A standard tax invoice is for sales to a VAT-registered business and carries its VAT number, name and address.
When you need a B2B tax invoice
From the amount to the QR code
After you calculate, press Make the QR code for this invoice. The total and VAT carry over to the generator, and you add the seller name and VAT number.
With CashHub you calculate nothing
The register works out VAT per item and prints it with the QR code automatically, and a return gets a credit note with the VAT computed correctly.
