POS sales reports and the Z report: what you get
In CashHub the numbers sit on two levels. At the shift level: the shift report and the cash difference. At the day level: day close with a Z report. On top of both are the dashboard reports, which show sales on your phone or computer.
The point is to know how much you sold, how much came into the drawer and where the difference is, before you go to sleep and without waiting for morning.
The start of the month, after salaries land
Sales move in the first week of the month. You open the dashboard on your phone from the car and see yesterday's sales and payments.
You see that the peak ran from five to nine, and that returns went up on one item. You adjust the shift schedule and the supplier order based on numbers, not a hunch.
At the end of the week you compare sales by hour and top items with the week before, and see whether payday really changed how your customers buy.
The shift: opens and closes with a report
- The cashier opens the shift at the start of their duty.
- During the shift they record cash in and cash out as needed.
- At close they count the drawer blind.
- The shift report comes out with the cash difference, and the drawer is handed over to the next person.
The blind count: why it matters
A blind count means the cashier counts the cash in the drawer at close without seeing the expected amount. The number they enter is their real count, not a number made to match the screen.
Then the difference between what they counted and what the system recorded comes out. The blind count applies to the cash drawer only, not to stock.
Day close and the Z report
At the end of the day you close the day with a Z report. The close gives you a clear summary of a whole day to review and keep.
The day won't close while even one device is unsynced, unless the owner allows it. That way you never close a day that's missing a late device's invoices.
Dashboard reports
From the dashboard, on your phone or computer, you get these reports:
| Report | The question it answers |
|---|---|
| Daily sales and sales | How much did I sell today and over the period? |
| Payments | How much came in as cash, card and wallet? |
| Top items | What moves the most? |
| Categories | Which part of the menu or shop lifts sales? |
| Variants | Which sizes and colours are selling? |
| Sales by hour | When is the place busy and when is it quiet? |
| Returns | What comes back, and from which item? |
All your branches on one dashboard
If you have more than one branch, you see their sales on a single dashboard. You compare one branch with another and see which one needs your attention, instead of asking each branch manager separately.
A device that falls behind
A device that stays offline too long alerts you. After a set limit it stops selling until it syncs. That protects your report numbers from invoices that are late reaching the server.
A five-minute weekly routine
- Open daily sales and compare the last week with the one before.
- Check payments and make sure their total matches your takings.
- Review returns: do they cluster on one item or one day?
- Look at sales by hour and decide where to add staff.
- Open the shift reports and see the cash differences and who they keep repeating on.
Export your data in one file
You can export all of the business's data in one file. It's useful if you'll review it with your accountant, or just keep a copy.
