BR-KSA-04: Issue date is later than today

An error: the invoice is rejected, so fix the cause and send it again.

Official text

The document issue date (BT-2) must be less or equal to the current date.

Error · Source: ZATCA E-Invoicing SDK 238-R3.3.8 · Electronic Invoice XML Implementation Standard v1.2, 19 May 2023, §13.3.1, p. 47 · Checked: 26 October 2026

What it means

The issue date written in the invoice XML is later than the platform's current date, so the platform treats it as a future date and rejects the invoice.

When it happens

How to fix it

  1. Set the device date and time to update automatically from the network.
  2. Write IssueDate and IssueTime from the same moment and the same time zone. Do not pair a local date with a UTC time.
  3. If your system writes the time in UTC (with a Z), write the date in UTC as well.
  4. Generate the invoice again with the correct date and send it again.

Example

Wrong: raises BR-KSA-04
<cbc:IssueDate>2030-01-15</cbc:IssueDate>
<cbc:IssueTime>17:41:08</cbc:IssueTime>
Correct
<cbc:IssueDate>2022-08-17</cbc:IssueDate>
<cbc:IssueTime>17:41:08</cbc:IssueTime>

We ran the wrong example through ZATCA's SDK 238-R3.3.8 on 26 October 2026 and it raised BR-KSA-04. The example is an excerpt of ZATCA's sample Simplified/Invoice/Simplified_Invoice.xml with one change; the sample without it does not raise the code.
