If the buyer country code (BT-55) is "SA", then the Buyer postal code(BT-53) must be 5 digits.Warning · Source: ZATCA E-Invoicing SDK 238-R3.3.8 · Electronic Invoice XML Implementation Standard v1.2, 19 May 2023, §13.3.1, p. 58 · Checked: 26 October 2026
What it means
When the buyer country code is SA, the buyer postal code must be exactly 5 digits. ZATCA's tool (SDK 3.3.8) checks it on tax invoices (01) only.
When it happens
- The customer gave a short code.
- The field holds the district or city name.
How to fix it
- Ask the customer for the national address and copy the postal code from it.
- Do not guess the code from the city.
Example
<cbc:InvoiceTypeCode name="0100000">388</cbc:InvoiceTypeCode> … <cac:AccountingCustomerParty>…<cbc:PostalZone>1222</cbc:PostalZone>…</cac:AccountingCustomerParty>
<cbc:InvoiceTypeCode name="0100000">388</cbc:InvoiceTypeCode> … <cac:AccountingCustomerParty>…<cbc:PostalZone>12222</cbc:PostalZone>…</cac:AccountingCustomerParty>
We ran the wrong example through ZATCA's SDK 238-R3.3.8 on 26 October 2026 and it raised BR-KSA-67, along with BR-KSA-15. The example is an excerpt of ZATCA's sample Simplified/Invoice/Simplified_Invoice.xml with one change; the sample without it does not raise the code.
