Business process (BT-23) must be "reporting:1.0".Error · Source: ZATCA E-Invoicing SDK 238-R3.3.8 · Electronic Invoice XML Implementation Standard v1.2, 19 May 2023, §13.3.4, p. 66 · Checked: 26 October 2026
What it means
ProfileID is exactly reporting:1.0 on every invoice, including tax invoices that go through clearance.
When it happens
- The developer wrote clearance:1.0 for tax invoices because they are cleared.
- The field is missing or contains a space.
How to fix it
- Write reporting:1.0 for every invoice and note type.
- Tell reporting and clearance apart by the invoice type (01 or 02) and the endpoint you send to, not by this field.
Example
<cbc:ProfileID>clearance:1.0</cbc:ProfileID>
<cbc:ProfileID>reporting:1.0</cbc:ProfileID>
We ran the wrong example through ZATCA's SDK 238-R3.3.8 on 26 October 2026 and it raised BR-KSA-EN16931-01. The example is an excerpt of ZATCA's sample Simplified/Invoice/Simplified_Invoice.xml with one change; the sample without it does not raise the code.
